No idea what company you are with, but with Comcast, I can simply take the modem down to the local office and swap it for a different one.
If the modem's the problem, that fixes it. If it isn't I've just wasted an hour or so and cleared some items off the checklist they have to go thru to try and fix things.
Did you mean the cable modem or the USB modem? As far as I can tell, both are working fine.
Remember, I had cable TV problems too, though they corrected quickly. My Mother also had cable TV problems Sunday. I suspect there's a hardware or software problem outside the house somewhere. Maybe even at the company building.
