Hot Time in the Old Neighborhood
Mar. 29th, 2012 06:45 pmAstronomers watching a large cloud of dust and gas approaching the center of our galaxy for the past decade say it has about a year to go before it reaches the event horizon of the point mass there. When this happens the Milky Way will go from one of the quietest large galaxies to one of the noisiest (in terms of radiation).
Keep in mind that we are perceiving this with speed of light delay; it actually happened tens of thousand of years ago.
The Pak are already on their way, just a few centuries behind the light. :-)
