Mysterious Car Problem
Jul. 15th, 2007 02:37 pmWas driving into Lexington yesterday when I had an odd problem. Taking off from a traffic signal, as I shifted into second gear there was a muffled thump (of the sort I've come to associate with the variable camshaft) and the car lost power. I eventually noticed that the AC had also gone off and wouldn't come back on, and the cruise control also wouldn't come on. The Service light was lit.
I made it to the Comic Interlude, did my business, came back out to the car. Service light went out with the rest of the startup check lights, and everything was fine again.
My guess is that a breaker had tripped (the variable camshaft is digitally controlled) and reset when I shut the car down. The problem hasn't recurred.
So, yeah, yesterday I had to reboot my car. :-)
