Winter Storm

stickmakerMy mother's electricity went off this morning, but is now back on. Which is good. I still can't get out. However, there is now a single lane plowed clear on my street so she could have come here if she needed to.
When I saw that the street had been cleared I started shoveling my driveway. Unfortunately, there's a thin layer of ice under the snow which is actually slicker than the snow was! I walked across the driveway on the snow, plunked the shovel down and shoved it across, clearing a path... and immediately started sliding down the slope. I managed to clear from the street end back about a meter and a half, and that's it. The ice won't scrape off, and so far the heavy clouds are keeping the sun from melting the stuff. I may be here until Spring Thaw.
Anyway, Mother is now getting warm again, and I'm going to have some hot cocoa.
