Taking my five year old cat - Michael - to the vet this afternoon.

He, my other cat, Motley and I all had cold-like bugs in mid-October. All of us lost our appetites for a while. Motley and I recovered ours, but Michael is still losing weight. I noticed Wednesday night that he was also having trouble swallowing, though that might have only been for the Pill Pocket I gave him. (He loves those as treats, so I was using them to try and stimulate his appetite.)

This morning he wouldn't eat breakfast and hardly sniffed at the Pill Pocket I offered.

He seems otherwise healthy and active; he's just not eating enough.

Michael was dehydrated and has some mildly worrying things in his blood test. However those are likely symptoms of his not eating.

Since he ate this morning, and had no problem with the cat pudding they gave him at the vet's he's probably okay.

Vet gave him a huge dose of saline subcutaneously, and cat pudding mixed with water from a large syringe. He had no problems swallowing.

He has definitely lost weight - over two pounds - but if he keeps eating and drinking he should be fine.

Update: I was a bit worried when he barely sniffed at the canned food I put out this afternoon. However, I later noticed him eating out of the dry food bowl, not quickly but for a long time.
