Self-Defeating Behavior
Sep. 4th, 2008 03:43 pmBeen reading some first-person accounts of Kentucky journalists and journalism students who were arrested during the Republican National Convention.
I can understand why both the political party and the local governments wouldn't want the protests covered. The problem is, those arrested in this article were documenting a splinter group of protesters who had broken away from the peaceful demonstrators are were, among other things, throwing rocks at the police.
That the police arrested them is no surprise; assaulting police officers is really stupid. However, also stupid was arresting the photographers who were documenting all this.
Guys, if you want fair treatment from the Press, don't arrest them for taking photos of you arresting people who were assaulting you.
