I enjoyed the con, though it was smaller than expected. However, there were major problems with part of the facilities. These are highlighted by a personal experience, related below.
Two months ago I noticed a large charge on my AmEx card with a mysterious attribution. No description except that it was for lodging in Illinois, naming a town and business, neither of which I recognized. Turns out when I used my card to hold the reservation the Holiday Inn Collinsville (and that hotel and town were not named with the charge) went ahead and charged the full amount. _Three months before my stay!!_
AmEx had put a hold on it while they investigated. I noticed, when I got my bill today, that the amount looked familiar. Checked when I got home, and yeah, they did teh stuped. I mean, what if I'd had additional charges beyond the basic? Or canceled the stay? Would they have included two months' worth of interest in the refund?
On top of this financial tomfoolery, the room was very humid, no matter what temperature. The bathroom was cramped, the wireless Internet barely functional (with the laptop's built-in WiFi; with the "bridge" they gave me when I complained it didn't work at all).
As a final insult, Sunday evening, around 9:30, they broke up the dead dog by clearing out the hospitality suite. Without warning or announcement, hotel personnel came in and started removing furniture.
Hopefully, there will be no more F/SF business for this particular hotel.
