Inconceivable...
Jan. 18th, 2007 05:24 pmIt looks like I'm retiring two and a half months too late:
All employees today received an e-mail message ordering us to leave all our computers on Monday after work (we're supposed to leave them on, anyway, for the automatic backups; they're supposed to know this, since they're the ones who do the backups) so all our desktops can be replaced by a standardized one.
Concerns have been raised by many people - myself included - as to what will happen to the custom icons for the applications we need for our work.
One proposed way of dealing with this is to leave our computers turned on, but unplug the Ethernet cables.
