Reminiscences about the F-104:

While we were in Spain someone got the idea to polish our C.O.'s bird just to make it shine real nice. For several days it sat in the hanger and anytime anyone had a bit of spare time they would go over and grab a handful of that cotton waste with some kind of metal polish in it. We had buckets full of the stuff.

When it was done it was spectacular looking. The shine and all the Blue comets all over it made it look like some kind of showbird. We also quickly found out that nobody else in the squadron could keep up with it nor fly a normal formation setting and stay alongside it either. Didn't take very long and things were back to normal. But it was sure purdy!!

Excerpt from a novel about the first extra-solar colony:

“How’s the new main hall coming along?” asked Waide.
“It’s going very well,” said Goose, proudly. “And it will definitely be sturdy enough for just about anything we or this planet can throw at it. Rammed pozzolanic concrete shells filled with rammed earth. Should last thousands of years.”
Waide started to say something, stopped and laughed.
“I was going to say you were overdoing it, but realized this will probably be a historic monument some day.”
