stickmakerThere are people who become narrowly fixated on something and resent anything which might broaden their interests. Especially something which contradicts their preconceptions.
Several years ago I was showing the Popeye featurette "Sindbad the Sailor" in a media convention's video room. This is some of the most beautiful hand-drawn animation ever made. The Fleischer Brothers built miniature sets and rotoscoped the foreground and background, producing a three-dimensional effect, complete with tracking shots.
As it was playing someone walked up to the open doors, watched for a moment, then loudly proclaimed "That's a three-level shot! Only Disney could do a three-level shot!" They then stomped off in a huff.
