Okay, this is weird. The FBI is sending out letters (to military surplus retailers, firearms dealers, feed stores, fertilizer stores and hotels and motels, mostly in Colorado) asking businesses to report large purchases of weatherproof match containers, MREs, night vision devices, 'night' flashlights, gas masks and a short list of firearms accessories. So, they're targeting hunters and hikers, now? As well as people who follow federal government recommendations to stockpile emergency supplies?
Supposedly, this is a profiling measure to find terrorists, with Neo-NAZI and anti-Semitic groups specified. Like most profiling measures, it appears the official targets will be swamped in the false positives.
