The Blizzard of '13
Mar. 18th, 2013 10:59 amWill post later about MillenniCon. Many people left early due to the weather, and I wish I had. The last forecast I heard for Sunday said we might get flurries. Until I got into northern Kentucky, that's all I saw.
Here is what I drove through once I got on US127:

I didn't see any "half a foot" but there were places where more than two inches had already fallen and the snow was still coming down hard. US127 had not been plowed or salted, either... at least, that I could tell. Just where the snow was turning to rain I got behind a pickup going much slower than I had been in heavy snow (not criticizing; unloaded pickups are notoriously light in the rear) and soon had another car following me. I only saw one vehicle off the road, and the driver was talking on his cell phone so didn't stop.
Ironically, the only serious trouble I had was after I moved far enough south that the roads were merely wet. The close call was just inside the Frankfort city limits, when a car decided to pass right where US127 turns into Holmes Street. Idiot decided the speed limit wasn't fast enough and tried to pass me on the right where the street goes from four lanes to two. I got a good look at the car a few seconds later, 'cause it turned out he was in such a hurry due to wanting to stop in the road half a block later to make a left turn. (Headdesk.) Took a photo of him, but it is too blurry to read the plates or even be sure of model.
Anyway, had a good time at the con and will post photos later.
