Had A Good Afternoon
Jun. 16th, 2011 05:11 pmThere is something fulfilling in shooting an accurate firearm with accurate ammunition. I had several groups under 3". At 25 yards, from a bench.
Took my New Model Blackhawk in .327 Federal out to try two new handloads in .32 H&R Magnum. My lead-in practice target (using Georgia Arms 100 grain LFP cowboy loads in .32 H&R Magnum) was under 2", a bit high and right.
One of the handloads (115 grain LFP in front of 5.2 grains of Blue Dot, crimped on the cannelure) also grouped in just under 2", also high and right.
I shot some other ammo - including a 100 grain LRN load from Georgia Arms and some .32 S&W - and had a blast.
It's gratifying when you can cover a five shot at twenty-five yards with a three-inch patch. :-)
