Late Night Misadventures
Oct. 25th, 2009 10:52 amI got back to Frankfort late from gaming last night, and then had to wait nearly half an hour to get home. A police car was blocking the bridge across the river, with my neighborhood on the other side. The accompanying officer was directing traffic away from that turn. I wanted to ask what was going on, but he kept waving his baton (traffic was light and I was in the rear) so I just changed lanes and went through town to come in from another direction. Traffic was blocked that way, too. There had been a horrible accident on US421 (which goes right past the main entrance to my neighborhood). There were about ten emergency response vehicles out, tending the accident and keeping traffic away. The road was blocked for a good distance because a medevac helicopter had been called in, so I couldn't even use the other entrance.
Sat parked until the chopper left, then I was allowed through, along with the handful of other cars waiting. Didn't see the wreck (it appeared to be off the side of the road in a depression. I had the small camera I keep in my glove box out and got a few shots, none particularly impressive.
I will note that there was a game in Lexington yesterday, and all the way home I encountered people who had obviously been celebrating (or mourning) too much. No idea if that has any connection with this accident. Maybe the local paper will have more info.
