Andromeda Strain
May. 27th, 2008 10:44 pmNot as impressed with the second part.
Oh, c'mon! A water cooled reactor with an _open top_?! The water wasn't even anything like deep enough to block the radiation, and apparently at room temperature.
The whole "Abort the self destruct!" sequence smacked of overblown melodrama. Obstacle after obstacle placed in the heroes' paths to highlight the drama of their struggle.
I missed the first part, due simply to forgetting because of another program. (That boy, I tell ya', mind like a steel sieve!)
The "evil government" subplot was also overblown, and unnecessary. Also, either I missed the rescue or death of the woman in the containment room, or they just forgot about her. It could easily be the former; by that point I was past paying close attention.
