I need a name for an organization and its leader. This is for the vampire
novel some folks helped me with a few months back. A group of vampire hunters
is mentioned in passing. They were founded during or shortly after one of the
Crusades, by Catholics, but are not formally connected to the Church.
Something like the Knights of Malta but more secretive, with no official ties
because they don't "really" exist. They're only mentioned once, in a short
discussion, so I don't feel like spending a lot of effort, and neither should
any of you. If someone has a reasonable name for the society and the title of
its leader, or can point me in the right direction, I would be greatly
appreciative.

That would be the secret Order of the Malted Knights, who relied on high blood-alcohol levels to deter their gore-guzzling foes. Their leader was the Grand Master Brewer.
