Spurious Argument
Mar. 26th, 2007 07:46 amA few years ago on an e-mail list someone posted something which said the opposite of what he meant. When this was pointed out he stated "Word order is unimportant in English." This was obviously someone either young or belligerently ignorant, who was notorious on the list for making ridiculous mistakes and vigorously defending them with arguments which only further exposed his inability to clearly think or convey his thoughts.
One person responded "If you really believe that, stand outside the Alamo and sing 'The Rose of Yellow Texas.'"
We didn't hear from the original poster again for a good, long while.
