Well, That's Aggravating...
Nov. 29th, 2010 09:28 amWas sweeping in my basement last night, and the shopvac quit. Checked the breaker box. All fine. Checked the power strip - even turned it off and back on - and it seemed fine; little red light glowing. Checked sweeper, and noticed that the On switch had a rattle in it. Figured that was the problem. The thing's several years old, after all.
This morning, I noticed that the dehumidifier plugged into the same strip also wasn't running. Even though the power strip's light was still on. Unplugged power strip. Pulled dehumidifier plug from strip and shoved it directly into socket. Came right on.
I haven't tested the shopvac, yet, but figure it'll work fine, too. I'm glad it's just a relatively cheap power strip that went out, but baffled that the indicator light was on but nothing working. Especially since it's worked under these conditions for months with no problems.
