Like the majority of Corona virii, it is fragile. It does not survive long on surfaces. It is easily killed by high enough concentrations of alcohol.  (So use hand sanitizers which contain 60% or more ethyl alcohol. Ethyl - even denatured - is safer for you than other alcohols.). It is easily killed by soap. It is easily killed by heat.

If you're worried about takeout food, get items meant to be served hot and just reheat to sizzling before eating. That should kill a lot more than the CORVID-19 present. However, most places which prepare food require their employees to wear gloves when handling food, as well as taking other prevention measures. So do produce sections and delis. If you are still worried about what you get at the grocery, buy canned goods for the duration.

Really, the main safety measures are to avoid crowds, avoid individuals who are coughing and sneezing and avoid touching your face between being in public and washing your hands with soap.

Remember, this is a virus, not a bacterium. Anti-bacteria methods - including antibiotics - will not work on it.

Update: The data now available is that COVID-19 can last 2 - 3 days on a surface.
