Thinking Changes Everything
Sep. 2nd, 2006 10:12 amOne of the projects I'm working on in the background when not developing my interstellar colony novel is a vampire story. I don't read vampire fiction, mainly because of the way it's written these days. (Dark mutterings directed towards Ann Rice...) I do watch the _Blade_ series, but mostly in fast forward. I've done some research, and have plenty of folklore references on hand; that and an imagination are pretty much all I need in the way of background work.
However, as I discovered when running a _Werewolf_ game a few years ago, just thinking about supernatural creatures in the real world colors everything. (Would you believe _The Beverly Garou_, with the Clampets being Bone Gnawer Garou, Jed as a Philodox, Granny as a Theurge, Jethro as a Ragabash and Ellie-May (SP?) as an Ahroun?)
As for how work on this novel is affecting things, well, Heart's "Dog and the Butterfly" takes on a whole new meaning if the characters are vampires. ;-)
