Put two beef or chicken bouillon cubes in two cups of water. Bring to a boil. Once the cubes are dissolved add the noodles (toss the flavoring packet) from a package of ramen and cook as directed.

I find this tastes better than using the flavoring packet in the brands of ramen I am familiar with. Adding some wheat germ or sliced bamboo shoots provides more body but may be more than you want for lunch.

With beef bouillon cubes, for a more substantial meal you can also add cut-up beef jerky with the bouillon. This might require a longer boiling period to hydrate the jerky, before adding the noodles.

another trick that's sometimes nice. Drain the cooked noodles then add the flavor packet (or you could try some powdered bullion). Maybe a *touch* of butter.

Gives you more strongly flavored noodles and no "soup".
