Avian (Mis) Adventure
Feb. 5th, 2012 12:04 pmWell, the cats woke me early this morning. By bringing a live bird in the house, letting it go, and trying to catch it again. (I'm looking at you, Michael. Motley was mostly an observer, though she did run around, keeping up with them.) After a period of denying there was anything wrong and trying to get back to sleep (and partially succeeding) I gave up, got up, and went after that bird.
I managed to quickly corral it and gather it in a towel. It was a large bird - not sure of the breed, but it was grey-brown with a red ring around the neck; I was too busy dropping a towel over it to get a good look - and wasn't apparently hurt, beyond losing a few feathers. I took it out onto the front walk and opened the towel, and it immediately flew away.
I got the paper and came back in, then went back to bed. Finally woke a bit after eleven.
The cats were hungry. Which was good enough for 'em.
(Oh, don't look at me like that; they had plenty of dry food. ;-)
