Back Among the Wakeful
Apr. 12th, 2011 01:47 pmAbout eleven last night I noticed my allergies were getting worse. Well, it _was_ time for my once-a-day pill. However, by Midnight I was still getting worse. Irritated eyes and nose, sneezing, congestion, general malaise. I used a supplemental nasal spray antihistamine and a decongestant and started getting ready for bed.
In fact, I used that spray again - along with my usual nasal squirt decongestant - while getting ready. I got in bed, tossed and turned and sneezed for a while, then got back up. I then maxed out on my daily dose of both nasal medications. Still no relief.
Cutting to the chase, over the next three hours I grew steadily worse. For a while I was actually sitting at my computer in lightweight pajamas, sweating. No fever, though. In fact, my temp was a bit below normal. I searched around the house and found some oral decongestant, which I took. Then more of both nasal sprays, around three AM, deciding that by then it counted on the next day's tally.
Finally, slowly, I began to feel better. I stopped sweating, and eventually was even a bit cool. The itching stopped. The congestion eased. I got back in bed after listening to the hourly news at 4 AM.
Naturally, the phone rang just after 8. Telemarketer. (In fact, the phone has been ringing off the hook today.) I got up, fed the cats and went back to bed. Finally rising for good at a bit before 12:30.
Feeling pretty much normal, now. Just finished a late lunch and letting it digest before trying anything more vigorous.
I thought Sunday I was coming down with something, starting Saturday night. Monday I was fine, until very late. Now I'm wondering if last night was the climax of some short-lived bug.
