I Hate Microsoft
Mar. 14th, 2011 11:41 amMicrosoft still finds ways to aggravate me, long after I moved to Macs.
Tried to open a file in Word on my iMac, was told I needed to update. Downloaded the update file which Word recommended, tried to install it, was told it couldn't find anything appropriate to update.
Cutting to the finish, not only had the app recommended the wrong update, the reason the updater wouldn't update it was because *that* update had already been run! I needed a later update. Several stages later. Each update (yes, I tried them all in order) gave the same *wrong* error message except the last, which actually worked.
What happened to simply telling someone what is actually wrong? I remember when even Microsoft would tell you if an update you were trying to apply had already been installed. Not any more, at least not for Word.
