Good News/Bad News
Sep. 1st, 2010 03:41 pmSome folks who read these know I've been having problems with my hands for years. The loss of sensation and fine motor control seem to be slowly getting worse. I recently convinced my doctor of the problem, and he sent me to a neurologist. He, in turn, performed some tests, including the cattle prod and Chinese wire torture. (That's not the technical terms, but it's what they feel like.) He found enough of a problem to send me for an MRI, which I had last week.
Today he gave me the results. There's nothing wrong with my brain (which should ring alarm bells for people who know me, right there :-) and the only thing wrong in my spine is a slight narrowing of one of the channels the nerves coming out of my spine go through.
He doesn't think that is enough to cause the problems I'm reporting. Even if it were, the only treatment is some serious surgery.
So, I'm stuck with dropping things and knocking things over. Perhaps for a few more years, until it gets bad enough to objectively measure.
