Technical Blues
Dec. 22nd, 2009 12:35 pmMy mother has been talking for over a month about getting a new TV. At first it was to replace the nearly-new one in her family room. Something about the sound being bad. There is, indeed, an occasional odd change in the sound, but otherwise it's a great TV, and digital ready.
So, a couple of days ago, my mother gave her bedroom TV - an older CRT - to my youngest niece. Today I went with her to Wal-Mart to get a new flatscreen for her bedroom.
My mother got her TV. I kept trying to convince her it was too small, but she said 'The old one was a 19 inch, this one's a 19 inch, they're the same size.' When I tried to explain the old one was nearly square (TV format) and this one rectangular (movie format) she changed the subject. Sure enough, as soon as I had it in place she frowned and said 'It looks smaller than the old one.'
At least it was inexpensive.
