A Little Appreciation
Jan. 23rd, 2009 09:45 amWell, the holidays are over, and I had a dream last night. Containing people I used to work with. I hadn't realized it hurt so much that they forgot about me after I left.
When I was working in the Division of Planning the custom was to invite former employees back for the holiday dinners during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Two years, now, and I haven't heard a word.
Twenty-nine years in that division, and nothing. Not a "How did you...?" (they never had me train anyone for the spreadsheet I was keeping) or even a "Where is the...?"
I know, many others retired in the months after I left. Maybe those still there just decided they couldn't afford to feed all of us. I don't know.
