Screaming at LavaSoft
Jul. 17th, 2007 01:14 pmNASFiC is coming up in a couple weeks and I've been getting my laptop ready. One of the preparations was to install the new version of Ad-Aware on it. The installation went fine. However, when I tried to register I hit a problem. I could select the type of service contract (36 months) and go to the CD serial number field and enter that just fine. But when I went to the key code field the serial number field cleared. After entering the key code I went back to the serial number... and the key code field cleared.
Now, the instructions don't mention entering the serial number, so I figured it might be an either/or thing based on the type of service contract. I started over and went from the type of contract field to the key code field, entering both and submitting.
Error message telling me the key code was invalid.
I tried various permutations. Same results, or lack thereof. I installed the new version of Ad-Aware on my Dell tower. Same problem.
Interestingly, it's telling me the field with something in it is wrong. If I enter just the serial number and no key code I'm told the serial number is invalid. No mention of the key code at all, even though the field is blank.
I suspect some simple mistake in the App.
I e-mailed them about the problem and hopefully will be able to register before heading to TuckerCon.
