As they parted, the Frenchman mentally labeled the Englishman a coward because he didn't loudly and vigorously defend his rights, the Englishman mentally labeled the Frenchman a spoiled little boy for not maintaining a manful silence, and the Italian mentally labeled them both idiots for not offering him a bribe.
