Tornado Drill
Mar. 6th, 2007 12:12 pmWe had a surprise tornado drill this morning. The main surprise being on the part of the organizers that we didn't all get to sheltered areas before the drill ended.
First, there was a major traffic jam on the central stairway (we don't use the end stairways or elevators during tornado drills).
Then they didn't route us to the clearly marked, official tornado shelter areas, where we've gone before, but to other areas, which couldn't hold all of us and had physically restricted access. It also had huge windows front and back, whereas the official shelter area is completely surrounded by solid walls, deep in the heart of the building.
I found a neat little room well away from windows with its own door and a chair. Part of a series of small meeting rooms.
Just a few seconds after I sat down - with people still coming into that part of the building and many more who were already there still trying to squeeze into the small rooms on the other side of the hall - the all clear was sounded.
I am *so* glad I leave that place soon.

Owowowowow
Mar. 6th, 2007 05:39 pmGreat. Bent over to pick something up off the bathroom floor and scraped my scalp on the corner of the shelf.
It's not all that bad; scalp wounds tend to bleed freely, and this one isn't, and only stings. But because the hair is spreading the blood out and concealing the actual wound I can't get a good look at it.
