Oh, this is too good not to share...

In Lincoln County, Maine, a new subdivision noted that the 300meter rifle range at a long-established gun club - over four klicks away - pointed in their general direction and the homeowners' association decided to have it closed. After a particularly vigorous shooting meet they complained to the city board that bullets were raining down on their trailer park, creating a hazard to all and sundry. The association members were baffled when, at the board meeting called to evaluate their complaint, they presented the physical evidence they had gathered and the representatives of the shooting club and many other laughed.

Fighting a grin, the board chairman asked the Sheriff what he had learned from his investigation of the complaint. That worthy related that:

1) The meet complained about was a trap shoot, which sent only birdshot into the air;

2) The evidence supplied by the homeowners' association representatives was a handful of _unfired cartridges_.
