I've been working on this concept in one form or another for nearly thirty years. Some early stories were published in _The Centaurs' Gatherum_ and are posted here:
I do repeat some of the scenes from those stories in the novel, but re-written from scratch. Everything else is completely new, including the lead character, who does not appear in this excerpt.
