Chase Visa

I received an e-mail this morning to log into my account for a message about their mistake. Only, when I tried I discovered that I was locked out of my account.

Right. Paying off the balance next month and cutting up the card.

Y'know, you might want to see if your state has some sort of consumer ombudsman. If they do, talk to them. They generally love nailing banks and other huge companies to the wall about this sort of thing.

Also, check whatever means you used to pay that $1500 with and see what it went thru as. Then talk to a lawyer.

Not to that point, yet, but definitely something to keep in mind. I was planning to do this early next year - take a loan at 5% interest on my 401k to pay off the balance. This just adds incentive to do that sooner.

It went through as $15. I can easily see how the mistake was made and that's not really the problem. The problem is that Chase has no mechanism for even reporting this sort of mistake, and seems actively working against helping me with it.

Well, the lack of mechanism is why I suggested an ombudsman.

When you tried to log in, did you follow a link in the email, or go to chase.com directly and log in yourself? It looks like a scam to get your login id/password, most folks have at least one Chase account.

No link in e-mail. I tried two different links to different Chase log-in pages which are in my Bookmarks; both refuse to let me log in.

OK, I hadn't seen yesterday's entry before this one, but it still sounds like a coincidence.

Chase has a lot of branches in Lexington, the main office downtown is (859) 231-2122.
