Strange Days, Indeed...
May. 9th, 2014 11:43 pmI have had to power cycle both my cable box and my iMac tonight.
The cable box is probably explained by the stormy weather we're having.
The iMac went waka-ding-hoy the first time I tried to use Open Office after installing the new version. It popped up the "Are you sure?" message. I told it "Yes!" but it simply re-opened the "Are you sure?" message. I even opened System Preferences and went to the Security and Privacy section and told it "Make it so!" and it just ignored me more. I then noticed that several previously cooperative Apps were now non-responsive, and told the iMac to restart. It didn't. When I tried again after a few minutes it told me it already was, but still nothing happened.
I held the power button down and it told me _again_ it was restarting, but wouldn't. I finally held the power button down until the iMac shut off. I waited several minutes, restarted, and everything was fine. Even Open Office opened fine the first time I clicked on the "Yes!" button.
