Somebody on cable was showing a marathon of Parts I through III of Star War over the weekend. I've never sat down and watched all of these, and didn't this time, but the portions I saw gave me a thought.
Many of the cities shown owe a great deal to the vision of Russ Manning and _Magnus, Robot Fighter_.
Now, Manning, himself, was likely inspired by pulp magazine depictions and descriptions of future cities, but his specific vision seems much closer to the capital than the majority of those. Especially the air traffic, which includes both passenger vehicles and flying drones.
All they lack is the grav-tube elevators.
