Why is "Stormy Weather" Playing in My Head?

Last night's storm may have been the hardest, windiest and most persistent rain without an actual thunderstorm I've had since moving in here almost thirty years ago.

Every place in my basement which can leak did, and the pilot in my water heater went out. Also, the drip I can hear at the back of the chimney when the wind blows just right during a hard rain was there off and on for hours, varying tempo with the rate of rainfall.

Don't know what the official rainfall amount was, but I'm betting it was high. There's flood warnings out for the whole area.
