Inappropriate Music

In my recently-purchased CD album of John Fogerty's major Credence Clearwater Revival songs, the liner notes mentioned that the scion of a wealthy family who decided to run for politics, and used "Fortunate Son" as his campaign theme. Despite the fact that it excoriates just that sort of person.

Just recently I heard about how Ronald Reagan wanted to use "Born in the USA" as a campaign song before his aides convinced him it didn't send quite the message he intended.

So, how many other spectacularly inappropriate uses of particular pieces of music can people think of? Not just in politics, but in commercials, movies, TV shows...

I'd heard about those...

My favorite is the song "Semi-Charmed Life", which is about doing drugs and getting a blow job. The music is upbeat and perky and "The Tigger Movie" used it in the trailer.

And in the opposite direction, Huey Louis got called on the carpet for "I Want a New Drug." And had to carefully explain that it was an anti-drug song (about how being in love is so much better than drugs).

It seems Meatloaf is the king of the unintended song. Everywhere he plays, he gets starry-eyed romantic couples asking for "Two out of Three Aint' Bad" dedicated to the spouse or SO they'll spend the rest of their life with. Thus, he has to explain to each and every one that its a comedy song entirely opposite to romance...
