Sculpture at Work
Aug. 2nd, 2006 12:25 pmThey finally started assembling the abstract sculpture at work. For the life of me, I couldn't see how it would go together. Turns out that's 'cause it won't. There's something not fitting right.
This project has been a debacle from the start. The management won't tell us anything about it. We have some old news that it's supposed to represent all aspects of transportation, which makes sense since this is the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet building, but the only connection with transportation is that part of it has a stylized front of a car. They spent far too many man-hours and too much money constructing the stands the support posts go on. (Gee, what do I know, I'm only a civil engineer...) One of the stands, when installed, rocked. The solution was to kick a piece of plywood under part of the edge. And now the actual sculpture won't mount on the two supports.
Our tax dollars at wrok.
