Cuisine Question

Okay, probably fun request here. I want suggestions for stereotypes in re. English food. For example, would people consider "What they don't boil they stew!" to be acceptable?

Stereotypes of French and German food also welcome.

One comment I already have is that the reason Germans are so eager to invade other nations is the hope to get a good meal. :-)

In, I think, So Long and Thanks for All the Fish, Douglas Adams claims that the English eat their sandwiches to atone for their national sins, and eat the pickles along with them to atone for personal sins. Or something like that, I'm hazy on the details.

I don't think that explains WW I; Belgian food?
