I am 63 and had chicken pox as a kid. My mother had shingles a couple of decades ago and still has the scars. So, after turning sixty I got the old shingles vaccine, Zostavax. When the new Shingrix vaccine came out I got quickly got the first of the two doses. Then could *not* find anyone who had the second dose!
I have heard several stories about why there was a shortage. Mainly it seems that demand exceeded supply.
Yesterday, nearly too late, I finally got the second dose of Shingrix. Today I'm light headed, fatigued, my gut is upset, I'm shivering and having a bit of muscle discomfort. All expected side effects, and so far pretty mild. In fact, the stomach upset started yesterday with an irritable bowel attack before I got the injection, and is now better.
Still, unless there's major improvement before 4:00 PM I'm staying home tonight and skipping gaming. I went last week and had a good time and would like to go this week, because next weekend is Conglomeration!
