Just Great...
Oct. 23rd, 2011 06:02 pmWent into the kitchen to start supper. Opened the door for the lazy susan in the corner under my kitchen counters. It fell off. That is, the bottom hinge broke, leaving the door hanging at an angle by the top one.
I wondered why the door kept drooping. Thought I didn't know how to adjust it. Turns out the bottom hinge was in the process of breaking over time, apparently through metal fatigue. The metal kinked and - just now - snapped. The part that broke was concealed by the rest of the hinge, so even if I had been looking for trouble, I probably wouldn't have spotted it.
Don't know how expensive those hinges are. Right now, not going to worry about it. Took the door the rest of the way off and will see about getting two new hinges (because the upper one bent when the lower one let go) later.
