This has been bothering me for - literally - decades. Maybe getting it off my chest will help.

At a WorldCon anime room several years ago one of the programs shown was the famous Lupin III episode _Albatross, Wings of Death_. In the notes was included the snide comment "...which bears a suspicious resemblance to the Hughes Spruce Goose_. There are two significant mistakes in that one, brief statement. They are:

A) The name of the plane the writer was thinking of is the Hughes H-4 Hercules. The "Spruce Goose" appellation was invented by members of the press, who were more interested in appearing clever than being accurate. The plane actually had little or no spruce in its construction. It has only a vague resemblance to the plane in the episode, and that only due to the fact that both are large seaplanes.

B) The plane in the episode actually looks like a Dornier Albatross. Because that's what it _is_. Hence the title.

There! I do feel better, now. :-)
