Masks 14 Published!
My Fourteenth Masks book has been brought out by Doppler Press, through Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XN5K94N
There is added material in this version over what was posted on Big Closet, and previous material was rewritten.
This is largely a "What are they doing?" story, but what they're doing includes learning to be a newly-minted woman, how to fight crime as a superhero and various supers catching up with friends and acquaintances. There's also an amoral shapeshifter tasked by the President to rally various supers to fight an upcoming alien invasion. Besides all the "boring, bureaucratic stuff" involved in getting the world ready for said invasion. :-^)

And as per usual, I'm re-reading it. Dunno if I'll remember it well enough to spot he changes, but it'll still be a good read.
Since I'm 513 days behind on BC I just started reading Masks 22. Wjhich makes for some odd juxtapositions what with a new term at Ramsey featuring in both. :-)

Thank you.
Very flattering. I'm blushing, a bit. :-)

Yeah. The series left the details of what happened at Bitter Creek a mystery. So that, and the song "Ghost Riders in the Sky" were the main inspirations. :-)

The main character won't talk about it (and didn't raise a defense at his court martial) because he doesn't want to drag the general's name thru the mud.
Sort of a "he really fucked up this time, but he wasn't well at the time" thing.
Hadn't thought of Ghost Riders in the Sky as part of the inspiration.
Off to youtube!

I missed some episodes, including most of the second season. I do remember the main character talking to a woman (Widow of one of the other officers?) about the battle. He said he was hit on the head during the melee, and when he woke the fight was over and he was lying on the ground some distance from it. "Maybe I did run away."
Was he lying? Did he remember more later? Did he omit some things, perhaps under orders?

Forgot to mention that I still find that opening theme song chilling. Especially the descending chords in the last verse.
