There's definitely an allergy component to my long-term gut problems. I had speculated on this with my allergist, who told me there actually used to be a medicine specifically to treat intestinal allergy complications, but it never took off and was withdrawn from the market due to lack of demand.

So, I know to try oral allergy medicine when I'm feelin' poorly. The problem is that most of these have decongestants in them, and oral decongestants raise my blood pressure.

There are other allergy meds--I can't have decongestants either.
