Miscalculation

At work yesterday I was told I had run out of vacation leave before returning. Not sure how that happened; I calculated how much I'd need and how much I'd earn early in the year and there was a comfortable margin. Argh...

Not sure how government vacation time works, but ours is awarded on the anniversary of your hire date every year. Whatever you've accrued in the past year isn't available to use until that "roll date", when accrued time becomes available and you start accruing toward next year.

We get leave monthly; one dose each sick and vacation. Sick leave is alwas 7.5 hours per month; vacation leave increases with number of years on the job.
