Deeper and Deeper
I've been digging in my main flower bed for over a week (not counting the days off for that gut bug) and I'm still finding things that look like props from a cheap horror movie.
Not sure how deep the worst roots are. I give up once I hit the hardpacked clay about four feet down and just break or cut 'em off.

I actually had a Giant Sequoia seed I tried to sprout a few years ago. Didn't make it.
No, these are flowering weeds I let grow for several years, due to the flowers. I tried to kill them last Spring by piling mulch on before adding a layer of bagged topsoil and planting (expensive) flower seeds. The seeds sprouted, then the weed shoots punched through and out-grew them, cutting them off from the Sun.
