Just a tech note. The page says <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">, but whatever you created the text with was using two-byte codes for the non-ASCII characters.

This results in things like this: Nicéphore Nièpce

Even the copyright symbol in the headers is messed up. (I tend to use &amp;copy; for that)

Fun column in spite of t he glitch.

But now you know why I run my pages thru the validator at the w3c site!

Argh. I used TextEdit, and have never noticed before that it's doing this. However, at the bottom please note that I spelled out Copyright.

Okay, I think I fixed the problems. I also "spelled out" the Copyright symbol in the two previous columns. Thank you for notifying me of this.
