Practical Psychology

I just figured out that the way to get my mother to do something is _not_ to say "Here's what you should do." She'll just flatly reject the suggestion. Instaed you say "Y'know, when that happens to me, I do this." She'll respond with an enthusiastic "Oooh, I should try that!"

That is, tyring it herself has to be "her" idea.

I tried a similar method with my mom to get her to go to a doctor and have her hearing checked-a little creative BS was necessary, but it worked. Turns out she needs those drains put in one ear,and the hearing loss isn't strictly age related..Scott
