Car Trunk Raiload

I may have asked about this here before, but I still don't have a good solution.

I want suggestions on how to organize items in a car trunk so they stay where I put them. I tried a cargo net for a while, but even when the adhesive anchors don't pull loose from the painted metal, keeping things from sliding out under it has proven problematic.

I like to keep some basic emergency equipment in a car. Umbrella, tools (including a lug wrench spider), better jack (electric screw jack which plugs into the cigarette lighter socket) and so on. A couple of these items are rather heavy. All of them tend to change locations no matter what I do.

Any useful suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Plastic bins or Rubbermaid totes? The bin might slide, but the stuff should stay in the bin.

Put them in a hard plastic milk crate. Anchor the crate to the side of the trunk with small bungee cords. There should be places in the trunk to insert or tie down the bungees.

I always just used a laundry basket. The whole basket might slide, but you can still find what you need.

I always had the best luck with cardboard boxes. Just remember to check every so often yo see that they aren't disintegrating.
