Taking Them for Granite
On an e-mail list I belong to someone recently reported seeing a large slab of granite on sale by Boeing (big companies have interesting garage sales) and wondering what it could be used for, besides the obvious application as raw material for of some sort of monument. Suggestions included making a *very* large batch of fudge, dishing the surface for a reflecting telescope mirror (granite having a low coefficient of thermal expansion) and as a massive, isolated mount for sensitive equipment.
The winner, though, was the guy who suggested bolting a high-quality turntable to it and advertising it for audiophiles. :-)
